A shopkeeper in Ghaziabad met a tragic end late Sunday night, discovered deceased in a drain under mysterious circumstances. The 48-year-old victim, identified as Shankar Lal Garg, was found after his scooty was noticed abandoned by the roadside with its headlights still illuminated.
A concerned passerby alerted the Sihani Gate police, who promptly arrived at the scene. The man was pulled from the drain and taken to MMG Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Family members stated that Garg followed a routine of disposing of garbage and visiting a temple after closing his shop before heading home. Initial examination of the scene and the scooty did not reveal evidence of a collision.
Investigators are exploring the possibility that a plastic bucket carried on the scooty may have disrupted the balance, leading to the fatal fall. A post-mortem examination has been ordered, and the investigation continues to ascertain the exact cause of death.
