- Drill validated flood response procedures and equipment.

On Friday, the Bengal Engineer Group (BEG) & Centre in Roorkee hosted a collaborative mock drill focused on flood relief operations. This exercise was conducted in partnership with the Haridwar District Disaster Management Office to rigorously assess emergency response capabilities and bolster inter-agency cooperation during natural calamities.
The training event took place at the BEG & Centre's Wet Block Training Area and saw active participation from around 110 individuals representing the DDMO Haridwar, 40th PAC Battalion, SDRF, Military Hospital Roorkee, and the BEG & Centre itself. Newly commissioned Sapper officers gained valuable practical experience in disaster management.
The drill's primary objective was to validate standard operating procedures for flood response within the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief framework. Participants were informed about the respective capabilities of each agency and familiarized with specialized rescue equipment utilized during flood emergencies. Simulated rescue operations, casualty evacuations, and demonstrations of Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were featured components.
This initiative is part of extensive preparedness measures for the current monsoon season and the anticipated Kanwar Yatra. Officials highlighted that the exercise successfully improved preparedness, interoperability, and civil-military coordination, ultimately leading to a more effective response mechanism for floods and other natural disasters.
