Two fishermen have been dramatically rescued after surviving for nearly five days at sea, adrift off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico. Daniel Guerrero Martinez, 53, and Jos Luis Portelas Villegas, 32, were found by rescuers approximately 150 miles offshore. Their survival was aided by a cooler, inside which they had taken shelter after their fishing vessel, Camaronera, sank last Thursday.
The pair had been missing since the day after they departed from Paredón. A coordinated search operation involving Mexico's Navy, ships, interceptor boats, and aircraft was launched to locate them. After five days adrift, the fishermen were spotted and brought aboard a rescue vessel. They were subsequently transported for medical attention due to severe dehydration.
