The Christian all-girls sleepaway camp, Camp Mystic, was particularly devastated, with 25 campers, two counselors, and the director perishing. The released calls underscore the widespread panic and the impossible choices faced by victims and rescuers alike.
Authorities have released hundreds of these distressing calls, acknowledging the emotional toll they carry. The Kerrville Police Department reported receiving 435 calls within a six-hour period following the initial report of flooding, with limited staff on duty. The department continues to offer support to the families and loved ones affected by this catastrophic event.
