A British mother is reeling from the loss of her fiancé, Robert Davidson, who died by suicide from a sixth-floor hotel balcony in Torremolinos, Spain. The tragedy unfolded late last Tuesday, mere hours before the first anniversary of their infant daughter Hollie's death from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
The family had chosen to holiday in Spain, hoping to avoid the painful memories associated with February 4th, the date they lost their seven-week-old daughter Hollie a year prior. Robert, aged 37, was with Daniella Robb, 27, and her two children when he returned to their hotel room.
Daniella Robb stated that Robert had kissed their children and expressed his love before going onto the balcony for a cigarette. She awoke to the children screaming that Robert had fallen. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The family had previously experienced a difficult Christmas Eve when Robert suffered a fall resulting in a fractured skull.
Robert had been deeply affected by Hollie's death and was struggling with his grief, despite efforts by Daniella and his friends to encourage him to open up. He was due to start a new job soon, which his fiancée believed would have been beneficial for his recovery.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for the repatriation of Robert's body, having already garnered £9,000. The Foreign Office confirmed they are providing support to the family and are liaising with local authorities regarding the incident.
