A father-of-two is undergoing a challenging recovery after a near-fatal fall from a three-storey ladder. The construction worker, Scott Blankley, sustained severe injuries including 11 broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, and damage to his kidney and lung.
Doctors performed a critical surgery, removing a portion of his skull to address brain swelling caused by a bleed. This section will be replaced with a titanium plate in the coming months. Scott is showing gradual improvement, breathing independently and able to consume soft foods.
He has begun walking with physical therapy assistance and is communicating with one-word answers. His family and friends have organized a significant fundraiser, raising over £17,700 to support his recovery and his upcoming wedding, now postponed.
A group of 15 friends recently completed a sponsored 24-hour row, covering one million meters to show their support for Scott, who is described as the 'soul of the party' and a 'real-life superhero'.
