An expecting father, Andrew Ferrarone, 33, from San Diego, tragically lost his life after a rock climbing fall in Big Bear Lake. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 12, around 5:30 p.m. in the Castle Rock Trail area. Ferrarone fell down a rocky slope, sustaining severe head trauma.
First responders attempted to save him, performing CPR and airlifting him to a trauma center. Sadly, he remained on life support until his death on Wednesday, July 15. His wife, Nina, who is eight weeks pregnant, is now preparing to welcome their child alone.
Loved ones established an online fundraiser to support Nina, which has garnered over $45,000. The funds will help her manage rent, medical bills, and the costs associated with childbirth, as she had taken time off work for her pregnancy.
