Father-of-Two Fights for Life After Lottery Ticket Tragedy

On October 27, 2025, 41-year-old Lewis Rimmer, a father-of-two and Manchester United fan, was making his weekly stop at a local Sainsbury's in Bromley Cross, Bolton, to buy a lottery ticket on his daughter's birthday. Tragically, Rimmer was unexpectedly hit by a suspected drug driver, suffering extensive injuries below his abdomen.
Rimmer has now been placed in an induced coma and remains in critical care at the Royal Preston Hospital. His friends and family, who are raising money via GoFundMe, have said he is "continuing to fight for his girls," Amelia, 10, and Maddison, 5, following 30 hours of surgery.
Just two days before the incident, Rimmer had agreed to be the best man at his close friend Danny Turner's wedding. Turner, 43, said he and his fiancée rushed back from their holiday in Anglesey upon hearing the news, as they were the usher and bridesmaid at Rimmer and his wife Sarah's wedding. Turner stated that the wedding will not proceed until Rimmer is well enough to attend, as he is "one of the world's good guys" who has done a lot for him.
The driver of the Range Rover, a 56-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs. He remains on bail while the investigation continues.
