Hero Dad Drowns Saving Son After Kayak Capsizes

A father's heroic actions tragically ended in his drowning at Lake Perris on Saturday afternoon, as he saved his young son when their kayak overturned. The incident unfolded near the Moreno Beach area, prompting a swift response from park officials who discovered the distressing scene.
Upon arrival, California State Park peace officers found the father, 54, unconscious and submerged while valiantly supporting his 7-year-old son, who was conscious but in distress. The child had been clinging to his father, who heroically kept them both afloat until help arrived. Neither individual was wearing a lifejacket at the time of the capsizing.
Paramedics arrived and began CPR on the father, who was transported to Riverside University Health System and later pronounced deceased. The boy was also taken to the hospital for precautionary evaluation. The California State Parks law enforcement, alongside the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
