A devastating single-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 75 in Ogemaw County resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred on Friday, January 16, 2026, around 4:10 p.m. A 37-year-old man driving a pickup truck from Rock, Michigan, was involved in the accident.
The driver was attempting to change lanes when he lost control of his vehicle due to slushy road conditions. The pickup truck then veered off the highway, ultimately striking a tree. Emergency services, including troopers from the West Branch post, Ogemaw Fire Department, and Ogemaw County EMS, responded to the scene.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away from his injuries. In a heartwarming turn, two dogs that were passengers in the truck were safely removed and transported to the Ogemaw County Humane Society Rea Family Animal Shelter.
