A fatal collision occurred in Menifee on Friday night, resulting in the death of a 54-year-old man. The crash involved a 2024 Toyota Prius and a Southern California Edison (SCE) utility truck.
The incident was reported to authorities at approximately 8 p.m. near the intersection of Menifee Road and McLaughlin Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered the Prius had sustained significant damage. The SCE truck was reportedly pulling a wooden electrical pole at the time of the collision.
Investigators believe the utility truck was executing a left turn from the SCE substation driveway on Menifee Road when the Prius struck the electrical pole being towed. The driver of the Prius, who has not been publicly identified, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Menifee Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash. At this time, authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
