A fatal accident occurred on Marve Road in Malad on Monday afternoon, claiming the life of a 41-year-old man. The incident began when an autorickshaw suddenly turned right, causing a two-wheeler carrying a rider and a pillion passenger to collide with it.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose balance, and the pair fell from the vehicle. Tragically, the pillion rider, identified as Saiful Baidya, fell directly into the path of a BEST bus that was traveling alongside. He was crushed by the bus's wheels.
Emergency services were alerted, and the bus was reversed to free Baidya. He was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival at 2 pm, suffering from severe trauma, including head injuries and fractures.
While BEST claimed the bus driver was not at fault, police are registering an FIR against the 51-year-old bus driver, Dilip Vishwakarma, for negligence. Evidence suggests the bus wheels ran over the victim, prompting the police's decision.
