A fatal crash is under investigation by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office following a pursuit that began on February 1. The incident started when a deputy observed a vehicle with missing lights and a license plate.
The driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a high-speed chase on northbound I-25, reaching speeds up to 120 mph. The vehicle exited the interstate and continued for several miles before the driver lost control.
Near the intersection of Pheasant Crest Drive and Weld County Road 84, the vehicle struck a power pole and rolled. Two male occupants were ejected from the car. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
