Ian Nabbs, a 35-year-old Bonita Springs resident, remains in custody without bond, awaiting trial for a fatal crash on June 8. He faces charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the death of Kimberly Anne Prior, 67, of Naples. Court documents reveal Nabbs exhibited signs of impairment, such as slurred speech and falling asleep mid-sentence, and an empty half-gallon vodka bottle was discovered at the scene.
According to witness accounts and security footage, Nabbs was driving his pickup at a high rate of speed on U.S. 41 in Estero when he collided with Prior's van. The impact ejected Prior from her vehicle. Nabbs' pickup then struck another Jeep. His driving history includes arrests for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.
Nabbs was transported to an emergency room, where he continued to display signs of impairment. Despite initial reluctance, a warrant was obtained for blood samples to determine his blood-alcohol concentration. His arraignment is scheduled for July 13.
