Tragedy struck on the C267 School Lane, near Derwent Reservoir in County Durham, on Sunday evening. A Volkswagen Polo travelling northbound left the road and crashed into a tree, resulting in a severe outcome.
Two individuals, a woman in her late teens and a man in his 20s, were declared deceased at the scene. Their lives were tragically cut short in the collision.
A third occupant, another man also in his 20s, survived the impact. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in a stable condition. The road remained closed to traffic as investigations began. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information.
