Fatal Crash Closes A417: Car Transporter Involved

A fatal collision occurred on the A417 near Birdlip on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a man in his 50s. Emergency services were called to the scene around 09:40 GMT following a two-vehicle crash involving a car transporter and a Honda Civic. The driver of the Civic, a local man from Gloucester, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Three passengers traveling in the car, identified as a woman and two young children, sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Bristol for medical attention. The driver of the car transporter received a medical assessment by paramedics but did not suffer any serious injuries. As a result of the incident, the A417 was closed in both directions between Cirencester and Gloucester, impacting the Buckholt Road junction and Twelve Bells junction. Police are actively investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
