A devastating collision on the A24 in West Sussex has resulted in the death of an 84-year-old man. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway, approximately half a mile from the Washington roundabout, shortly before 11:00 GMT on Friday. Police and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The crash involved a BMW and a Volkswagen. The driver of the BMW, a resident of Worthing, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the same vehicle, aged 82, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 54-year-old woman, also received hospital treatment and has since been discharged.
Sussex Police are actively seeking information from the public regarding the collision. Anyone who witnessed the event or possesses any relevant video footage is urged to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
