A family from Roanoke, Virginia, has initiated legal action against Delta and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, asserting they were subjected to a bed bug infestation during a flight earlier this year.
The lawsuit, filed on December 18, details how the family experienced "bitten and injured by bed bugs that had infested the cabin," resulting in "raised and itchy welts, lesions, and rashes." The family claims this ordeal "ruined their family vacation and has caused humiliation, embarrassment, anxiety, discomfort, medical expenses, and loss of clothing and personal items."
The family traveled from Roanoke to Atlanta on March 21, then took a KLM flight to Amsterdam and onward to Belgrade, Serbia. They allege that flight attendants were notified but urged them to remain quiet to avoid causing a disturbance on the plane. The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages totaling at least $200,000.
