Miracle or Coincidence? Temple Visit Saves Workers from Blast
14 May
Summary
- Three workers died and 25 were injured in a factory explosion.
- Many workers survived by attending a temple ceremony.
- The blast occurred during a religious consecration event.

A massive explosion ripped through a firecracker packaging factory in Tonk Kalan, claiming the lives of three workers and leaving at least 25 others injured, some critically. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, just as many factory employees had decided to attend the final day of a consecration ceremony at a newly built temple in Kalma village.
Women from Kalma and surrounding villages, who typically earn daily wages at the factory, were among the hundreds gathered for the Shri Ram Darbar temple's event. They expressed a profound sense of relief and gratitude, believing their decision to prioritize the religious ceremony over their work shift had saved them from the fatal blast.
Organizers noted that approximately 100 to 150 individuals connected to the factory were present at the temple during the explosion. Had they been at the factory, the scale of the tragedy could have been significantly larger. The five-day ceremony, a community effort costing an estimated Rs 1 crore, houses idols of several deities.
News of the factory explosion cast a pall over the temple celebrations, with attendees breaking down upon learning of potential casualties among relatives and colleagues. The planned procession was immediately halted as prayers were offered for the deceased and the injured.
