An experienced climber, Justin Lowman, aged 52, died tragically after falling 130ft from St Govan's Head in Pembrokeshire. The incident occurred on February 12 while he was climbing with two companions.
His friends sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital. Sadly, Mr. Lowman was pronounced dead at the scene. His family remembered him as a beloved son, brother, and uncle, highlighting his deep-rooted love for outdoor activities developed since childhood.
Mr. Lowman was a well-known and accomplished climber within the local community. His career included roles at Cardiff Council, Pembrokeshire College, and the Royal Mail. St. Govan's Head, a site known for its challenging limestone cliffs up to 131 ft high, features numerous climbing routes.
Emergency services, including multiple coastguard teams, helicopters, an air ambulance, and an RNLI lifeboat, were deployed to the location. Police confirmed the death is not suspicious, and next of kin have been notified. An inquest is scheduled to take place.
