In a surprising move, rapper Eminem has been tapped to executive produce the halftime show for the Detroit Lions' Thanksgiving game this year. The announcement comes just two weeks before the highly anticipated matchup.
Separately, global music superstar The Weeknd has stepped up to support relief efforts in Jamaica following the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. The Weeknd, who is a World Food Programme ambassador, has donated $350,000 from his XO Humanitarian Fund to the organization's operations in the Caribbean nation. The WFP says the funds will help scale its efforts to assist a target of 200,000 Jamaicans impacted by the powerful Category 5 storm.
Jamaican legend Shaggy has also been at the forefront of the relief efforts, mobilizing private flights to transport citizens in danger and sending much-needed food aid to those left starving in the storm's aftermath. "People are homeless. There's no running water, there's no electricity, there's no shelter. They were sleeping on the streets," Shaggy told Rolling Stone.
