Speeding Car Crashes into Tea Stall, Kills Elderly Vendor in Faridabad

On the morning of October 10th, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Faridabad's NIT-3 area, claiming the life of a 70-year-old tea vendor. Ajay Mahto, a resident of the locality and originally from Bihar, had been running a tea stall outside a private hospital in the area for several years.
Around 3:30 AM, as Mahto was setting up his tea cart for the day, a speeding Maruti Swift car suddenly lost control and rammed into his stall. The impact of the collision was so severe that Mahto died on the spot, his cart crushed under the weight of the vehicle. Two parked motorcycles were also mangled in the crash.
Eyewitnesses immediately rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend the driver, identified as 23-year-old Aman, who was later handed over to the police. Officers from the SGM Nagar police station arrived shortly after being alerted and seized the vehicle. Mahto's body was sent to the Badshah Khan Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Manoj Kumar, in charge of Police Post No 3, confirmed that Aman, who works a private job, was booked under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS. Police are currently investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
