Summary
- E-skateboard rider airlifted to hospital after colliding with car.
- Rider reportedly used alcohol and marijuana before the crash.
- Crash occurred at intersection of Kitsap Mall Blvd and Poplars Ave.

A high-speed electric skateboard collision with a car resulted in the rider being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center on Tuesday, July 28th. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Kitsap Mall Boulevard and Poplars Avenue in Silverdale, Washington.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, reportedly informed first responders that he had consumed alcohol and marijuana prior to the crash. The driver stated the skateboarder rode directly into his vehicle's front end. Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue initially transported the rider for treatment.
This collision underscores the significant risks associated with electric skateboards, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility is compromised. Their increasing speeds mean riders can approach vehicles much faster than expected, making accidents more likely.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the collision. While the rider's impairment was a factor, details regarding speed, visibility at the specific intersection, and potential citations are still being determined.
