E-Scooter Rider Critical After Van Collision

A man in his 50s has sustained potentially life-threatening injuries following a serious collision involving an e-scooter and a van. The incident took place on Friday at approximately 4:15 PM GMT, at the junction of Medina Road and Sixth Avenue.
The e-scooter rider was transported to the hospital with severe injuries. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary reported that a 37-year-old man from Portsmouth, who was driving a white Ford Transit Tipper van, was taken into custody.
He was arrested on multiple charges, including causing injury by dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license, and lacking insurance. The driver has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
Law enforcement is appealing for any witnesses or individuals with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
