Arrest After Serious E-bike, Car Collision

A serious collision involving an electric bike and a car on Friday evening has led to the arrest of an 18-year-old. The incident occurred at approximately 19:25 GMT on Newport Road in Middlesbrough.
A 14-year-old who was riding the e-bike sustained severe injuries, including a bleed to the brain and fractures in both legs. They were initially taken to James Cook University Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
The rider of the e-bike was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a license or insurance, driving under the influence, and possession of an offensive weapon. The driver of the car involved in the collision was treated by paramedics for bruising and shock and was taken to hospital.
Cleveland Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
