Drunk Driver Kills Mason, Injures Son in Hyderabad Crash

A fatal road accident occurred near the Kondapur RTO office in Hyderabad on Monday morning. A 50-year-old mason, Ch Srinivasulu, was killed, and his son, Ch Shiva Kumar, was injured when a four-wheeler hit their motorcycle. The incident happened around 5:30 AM as the father and son were traveling from Hafeezpet to Gachibowli.
The Thar, driven by 30-year-old P Abhinay from Vijayawada, reportedly struck the victims' bike from behind. The impact caused Srinivasulu and Shiva Kumar to be thrown from the bike. Srinivasulu sustained critical injuries and died at the scene, while Shiva Kumar, a private-sector employee, suffered minor injuries and is being treated in a local hospital.
Madhapur police were alerted by locals and promptly arrested Abhinay. A breathalyser test confirmed he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Initially, cases were registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to negligent acts and endangering life. Following the drunk driving confirmation, charges are being altered to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
