An unoccupied Minnesota State Patrol squad car was struck by a suspected drunk driver on Friday evening in Minneapolis. The collision happened just before 10 p.m. as a state trooper was attending to a separate two-vehicle crash on eastbound I-94 near Franklin Avenue.
Surveillance footage captured the moment a Toyota Camry impacted the patrol car. The driver of the Camry, identified as a 24-year-old man from St. Paul, was subsequently arrested and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of DWI and criminal vehicular operation.
While the state trooper was unharmed in the incident, one passenger traveling in the Camry sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the crash.
