On the night of Diwali 2025, a devotee visiting the renowned Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain tragically passed away due to a heart attack. Saurabhraj Soni, a resident of Parshvnath City, Ujjain, arrived at the temple around 1 am to participate in the sacred Bhasma Aarti ritual, which is observed every week during the pre-dawn Brahma Muhurata.
However, before Soni could complete his visit, he collapsed near Gate Number 1 due to a sudden cardiac arrest. Temple staff and his companions immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Friends and family later revealed that Soni had a premonition of his death. Just hours before the incident, he had posted a poignant WhatsApp status that read, "The body is made of clay, breaths are borrowed, the heart belongs to Mahakal, we are merely tenants". Soni was known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Mahakal and made it a point to attend the Bhasma Aarti every Monday. On Diwali this year, he came to offer his prayers one last time, passing away within the sacred precincts of the temple.
