Deadly Truck Crash Kills 8, Injures Dozens on Pune Highway

On November 10, 2025, a tragic accident occurred near Pune's Navale Bridge, resulting in the deaths of at least 8 people and leaving 20 others injured. According to the Pune City Police, the incident took place around 5:30 pm within the jurisdiction of the Sinhagad Police Station, near the "Selfie Point" stretch of the highway.
The accident was caused by a speeding truck that was travelling from Satara to Mumbai via the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway. The truck, which likely suffered a brake failure while descending the Navale Bridge slope, went on to hit multiple vehicles, including a car that caught fire after being sandwiched between the truck and a container ahead on the same route.
The collision involved around 8 vehicles, with 2 of them catching fire due to the impact. Police teams and the Pune Fire Brigade rushed to the site to douse the flames and rescue the victims. Firefighters later retrieved the bodies from the damaged car and container.
Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased, and the wrecked vehicles are being cleared from the highway. Traffic was temporarily diverted during the operation, and a probe has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
The accident occurred on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section of the Pune-Bengaluru Highway, a stretch that has witnessed several major accidents in recent years.
