Tragedy struck Jaunpur district once again as a sharp Chinese manjha claimed the life of Dr. Sameer Hashmi, a 28-year-old medical practitioner. While returning home on Wednesday, the hazardous kite string slit his throat, leading to his death at the district hospital. This incident follows a similar death on December 11, when a school teacher also lost his life to the dangerous string.
Despite continuous drives and seizures of Chinese manjha from vendors, the use of these banned strings persists, leading to recurrent fatal incidents. Local authorities are appealing to the public for information regarding those who sell or use the manjha, emphasizing the ongoing danger it poses to the community.
In a separate but related incident in Varanasi on the same Wednesday, Jitendra Maurya sustained severe injuries to his eyelids and nose from Chinese manjha while traveling by motorcycle. He is reported to be in stable condition after receiving medical attention. The recurring incidents underscore a serious public safety concern in the region.
