Exploding Power Pods: Charger Recall After Fatal Incident
17 Apr
Summary
- Casely Power Pods recalled due to fire, explosion, and burn hazards.
- A 75-year-old woman died from complications after a charger fire.
- Affected chargers have model number E33A and Casely logo.

Casely's Power Pods 5,000mAh MagSafe E33A charger has been reannounced for recall by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission due to significant fire and burn hazards. This follows an initial recall of 429,000 units approximately one year ago.
Despite the prior recall, many devices remained in use. In August 2024, a 75-year-old woman in New Jersey suffered fatal injuries after the power bank on her lap caught fire and exploded. Another incident involved a 47-year-old woman who sustained burns when a charger ignited on a plane.
The recalled chargers feature the Casely logo on the front and model number E33A on the back. They were sold between 2022 and 2024 on getcasely.com and Amazon. Casely is providing free replacement units upon submission of photos verifying the recalled product and its model number.
Owners must dispose of the recalled chargers safely by contacting a specialized lithium-ion battery disposal facility. They should not be discarded with regular household waste or standard recycling due to the risk of fire and explosion.
