In Texas, a Tesla Cybertruck owner was arrested on Monday night after intentionally driving his electric vehicle into Grapevine Lake to test its "Wade Mode" capability. The incident occurred around 8:00 pm local time near Katie's Woods Boat Ramp, where the truck was found partially submerged.
The driver informed police that his intention was to evaluate the Cybertruck's off-road setting, designed for slow travel through shallow water with an elevated suspension. However, the vehicle became disabled and began taking on water, prompting the driver and passengers to abandon it.
The Grapevine Fire Department's Water Rescue Team later extracted the waterlogged Cybertruck. The driver, identified as Jimmy Jack McDaniel, was arrested and faces charges including operating a vehicle in a closed section of a park or lake, operating without valid boat registration, and multiple water safety equipment violations. Authorities reminded the public about potential legal and safety concerns associated with entering shallow water areas with vehicles, even if capable.
