Community Rallies: Cricket Club Becomes Firefighter Haven

Micklehurst Cricket Club in Mossley has become a central hub for community support, collecting donations for firefighters engaged in a challenging moorland blaze. Since Saturday, the club has served as a mini-depot, receiving a continuous stream of food and drinks for the crews battling the fire near Dove Stone reservoir.

The initiative, driven by community spirit and the involvement of two club members who are firefighters, has seen an overwhelming response. Residents have generously donated essentials such as bottled water, sandwiches, and cakes. Some have even prepared hot meals like bacon and sausage butties, which are then delivered to the fire crews three miles away.
