Man Survives Gruesome Crash, Runs to Thank Rescuers

In February 2022, Jerry Innesbeer's life changed instantly when his car collided with a tree and rolled into dense woodland, approximately 200ft from the road. He sustained critical injuries, including a broken leg and ribs, and a punctured lung. Driven by a strong will to survive, Jerry managed to exit the wrecked vehicle and began crawling towards the sound of traffic, despite his foot being detached.

Rescued by the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) crew, Jerry was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary. Medical professionals were astonished by his ability to reach the road given his condition and the car's visibility from the roadway. Initially warned he might lose his foot, Jerry's determination to recover led him to relearn walking and eventually running.

To 'pay back' the air ambulance for saving his life, Jerry has undertaken significant fundraising efforts. He successfully ran the Lincoln 10K in 2024 and has raised nearly £3,500 for the LNAA. He plans to run the event again this year, emphasizing the critical importance of the service, as one never knows when they might need it.
