In a disturbing incident that occurred on Sunday, a 22-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide while live-streaming on Instagram. The tragic event took place in a forest in Gujarat's Dahod district, with approximately 50 individuals reportedly witnessing the broadcast. The couple, residents of Limkheda, had reportedly eloped the previous week.
Police indicated that the man, identified as Rajesh Ninama, had sought his parents' approval for the marriage. However, the girl's parents reportedly opposed the union due to the couple belonging to the same clan and sharing a surname.
Distressed by this opposition, the couple allegedly decided to take their own lives. They proceeded to a forested area in Hirapur village on Sunday morning, where the broadcast began. According to initial reports, they then hanged themselves from a tree branch. Authorities were alerted and have since recovered the bodies, initiating an investigation into the matter by registering an accidental death case.
