Two young brothers, Tobias, aged eight, and Finley Rice, aged five, tragically lost their lives following a collision on the A30 in Cornwall on May 29. Tobias Rice died at the scene of the crash on the westbound carriageway near Connor Downs. His younger brother, Finley, passed away in hospital three days later on June 2.
The boys were pupils at Priory CE Primary School in Christchurch, Dorset. Headteacher Simon Croutear described them as cherished members of the school family who would be immensely missed. The school community has been left shocked and grieving.
Emergency services attended the scene shortly before 11am. A woman in her 70s and another in her 40s, who were travelling in the same vehicle as the boys, sustained serious injuries and were treated at Derriford Hospital. A local man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He received treatment for minor injuries and has since been released under investigation.
