Firefighter Honored for Service and Kindness

Community Christian Church was filled to capacity as friends and family gathered to memorialize Colton Tibbetts, a firefighter known for his quiet strength and community service. Tibbetts, who had recently achieved the rank of Engineer with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, was celebrated for his dedication and his innate kindness.

Tragically, Tibbetts lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that he lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a collision with a sign and several trees. His passing has deeply affected his colleagues and loved ones.

During the service, family members described Tibbetts as a God-fearing and determined young man whose presence was impactful. JFRD Chief Percy Golden emphasized Tibbetts' commitment to his profession, noting his goal-oriented drive beneath a fun-loving exterior. Outside of his firefighting career, Tibbetts had recently purchased his first home and was an avid outdoorsman and Alabama fan.
