A devastating road traffic incident occurred on the A161 at Woodhouse, near Belton, North Lincolnshire, on Saturday. Emergency services were dispatched following a collision between a black BMW X2 and a silver Mazda 2.
The crash resulted in severe injuries to a six-year-old girl and a 73-year-old woman, both of whom are in a life-threatening condition. The driver of the BMW, a 40-year-old man, was apprehended by Humberside Police.
He faces charges including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene, and driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. A 33-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender.
Both individuals have since been released on conditional bail. Humberside Police are actively seeking witnesses and any individuals who may possess relevant footage of the incident to aid their ongoing investigation.
