Tragedy Strikes: Child Drowns in Pond

A young child has tragically drowned in a pond on Sunday afternoon. Calgary Fire Department crews were dispatched around 1 p.m. following reports of a person submerged in water. Upon arrival, they found a girl in critical condition after being rescued by a family member.

Firefighters initiated CPR and continued resuscitation efforts with EMS until patient care was transferred to paramedics. Unfortunately, the child was declared deceased at the scene. A surface scan and sonar equipment were utilized to confirm that no other individuals were submerged in the pond. STARS air ambulance was also present but did not transport a patient.
