A four-year-old boy named Bohuslav Curi tragically passed away in hospital after swallowing fridge magnets. The inquest into his death, which occurred on August 25 last year, heard that the child had experienced four days of vomiting and abdominal pain.
Medical examination confirmed that Bohuslav died due to a small bowel perforation caused by the magnets. This perforation led to acute peritonitis and sepsis, as dangerous bacteria spread from his gut.
Prior to his hospital admission, Bohuslav's symptoms included green-black vomiting and a definitive deterioration on Sunday morning. He was described as floppy and in severe pain when his mother called for an ambulance.
