29 Apr
Summary
- A couple's car was destroyed in a large fire at a garage.
- The car was on a ramp inside the building when the fire occurred.
- A mechanic lost his entire collection of tools in the blaze.

A black Ford Fiesta, known as Vadar, was completely destroyed after the garage where it was left for an MOT was gutted by a significant fire. The car's owner, Lakini Bolton, had dropped it off just hours before the Uddingston-based building erupted in flames. Her partner, Jerry Chalupnik, confirmed the devastating news, stating the car was still on a ramp inside when the fire occurred.
The garage owner has assured the couple that his insurance will cover the loss, but the process is expected to be lengthy. The fire caused extensive damage to the garage, prompting firefighters to work through the night to prevent it from spreading to a neighboring petrol station and supermarket. While one person received treatment for smoke inhalation at the scene, no other casualties were reported.
In addition to the vehicle, mechanic David Mills lost his entire collection of tools, accumulated over years of work. Friends have initiated a crowdfunding campaign to support the father-of-three in replacing his essential equipment. Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire but do not believe it was started deliberately.
