Vincent Zampella, the acclaimed creator of the "Call of Duty" video game series, died in a fiery car crash in December 2025. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined his death was accidental, attributing it to severe thermal injuries and smoke inhalation sustained when his vehicle became engulfed in flames. The incident occurred along the Angeles Crest Highway. Zampella's red Ferrari reportedly veered off the southbound lane, collided with a concrete barrier, and immediately burst into a fireball. Eyewitnesses and video footage suggest excessive speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash. First responders were seen attempting to rescue individuals from the burning wreckage. Zampella previously led Respawn Entertainment and founded Infinity Ward, the studios responsible for the immensely popular "Call of Duty" franchise.
