A serious collision occurred in southwest Calgary on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in critical injuries to a pedestrian. The incident, involving two vehicles, took place around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Ninth Street S.W.
One of the involved vehicles came to rest on the sidewalk after striking a planter. A woman, identified as a pedestrian by police, was discovered within the planter and sustained injuries described as serious and potentially life-altering. Emergency Health Services reported that two other individuals were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the crash, traffic on 17th Avenue was disrupted. The street was closed in both directions between 9A Street and Seventh Street S.W. as emergency personnel managed the scene and conducted an investigation into the cause of the collision.
