The Buxar district administration has intensified its readiness for anticipated floods and drought conditions. A key measure involves the 24/7 operation of the District Emergency Operation Centre, bolstering the district's disaster management infrastructure.
To ensure robust weather surveillance, automatic rain gauges are now functional in all 142 panchayats. Agreements with 87 private boat owners are in place to maintain connectivity in six flood-prone blocks if necessary. The administration has prepared 5,684 polythene sheets for immediate relief efforts.
Furthermore, 54 flood relief camps and 33 community kitchens have been designated to support affected populations. Rates and storage for dry rations and food packets are finalized. SDRF and NDRF teams are strategically deployed for rapid emergency response.
Pre-flood and anti-erosion work along the Buxar-Koilwar Ganga embankment is complete. The health department has organized medical teams and ensured a stock of 73 essential medicines. For livestock, 11 animal relief camps and 11 mobile veterinary units are ready, with 44 types of veterinary medicines available.
Addressing the current drought-like situation, agricultural feeders are receiving 14 hours of power, and rural areas get 20-22 hours. Efforts are underway to ensure water supply reaches tail-end areas via the Sone Canal and Ganga Pump Canal systems. All departments are mandated to finalize flood preparedness measures promptly, with zero tolerance for any laxity.
