A devastating collision between a government bus and a soil-laden lorry on Thursday, October 8, has led to a fatality and numerous injuries. The incident took place on the Tirunelveli-Thoothukudi highway near Prancheri. The bus, carrying over 20 passengers, was involved in a head-on crash with the lorry, which reportedly lost control.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing significant damage to the front of the bus. Sadly, Ajith Melvin Arthur, a 52-year-old bus conductor and a resident of Kanniyakumari district, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
More than 20 passengers on board the bus sustained serious injuries and were promptly taken to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital. They are currently receiving intensive medical treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident, with the lorry driver being questioned to determine the cause of the crash.
The collision caused considerable disruption to traffic on the highway for some time and led to panic among local residents and motorists.
