Highway Wall Collapses Days After Expansion Completion

In East Burdwan, a significant portion of the guard wall along National Highway-19 in the Sordanga area of Memari collapsed on Wednesday at approximately 9:50 AM. This structural failure also impacted a section of the highway's carriageway and damaged a third lane, leading to traffic disruptions.
Commuters faced inconvenience as one lane of the affected highway was temporarily closed. Local residents expressed surprise, noting that the highway expansion project in this area had concluded only a few months prior to the collapse. Officials confirmed the incident involved a side lane of the flyover and a portion of the third lane. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as a result of the collapse.
