An incident occurred at Nepal's Bhadrapur Airport on Friday evening when a Buddha Air aircraft overshot the runway during its landing. The flight, originating from Kathmandu with around 50 passengers, veered off the tarmac approximately 200 meters past the runway's end. Airport officials confirmed that all passengers and crew aboard the aircraft were safely evacuated immediately following the event.
The aircraft, identified as flight No. 9N-AMF, an ATR 72-500 turboprop, came to a halt near a rivulet. While the landing attempt resulted in minor damage to the plane, there were no reported injuries among the occupants. Emergency response teams were quickly on the scene to ensure the safe disembarkation of everyone on board.
Buddha Air has not indicated any disruptions to its other flight operations following the incident. An assessment of the aircraft's condition will be conducted by authorities to determine its airworthiness before it can resume service. The airport remains operational.
