Firefighters Contain Brush Fire in Palm Springs Foothills

On October 18, 2025, a brush fire erupted near the foothills along Highway 111, about one mile north of Gateway Drive in Palm Springs. The fire, dubbed the Parkmead Fire, was reported around 1:25 p.m. and has been mapped at approximately 11 acres on the mountain slope.
The Palm Springs Fire Department, with assistance from Cal Fire, responded to the incident and have managed to stop the fire's forward progress. Fire crews remain on the scene with aircraft support as they continue to secure the perimeter and monitor for any potential flare-ups.
Earlier, Cal Fire had dispatched one battalion chief to the scene, with another responding, along with two brush engines and two additional engines called in to assist with the firefighting efforts.
