Two brothers, Gulsher Ali and Abdul Subhaan, tragically lost their lives on Tuesday night near the Kalagram traffic signal when their motorcycle was struck by a speeding Mahindra Thar. The victims, originally from Saharanpur, were in Chandigarh for work related to a local madrasa. They were reportedly at a red light when the Thar collided with their bike from behind.
The driver of the Thar, identified as an 18-year-old named Arman, fled the scene but was apprehended by police soon after, thanks to a passerby who noted the vehicle's registration number. Arman, whose father is a head constable, was subsequently released on bail. The brothers were rushed to PGI, but Gulsher Ali was declared dead upon arrival, and Abdul Subhaan succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Both Gulsher Ali and Abdul Subhaan were educators at a madrasa in Saharanpur. Gulsher is survived by his wife and five children, while Abdul leaves behind his wife and four children. Their bodies were handed over to their family for final rites after a post-mortem examination. This incident highlights a pattern of fatal accidents involving Thar vehicles in the region.
