Rescuers have discovered four bodies after an avalanche on Pakistan's Broad Peak, with the search ongoing for six missing climbers. The operation to recover the deceased is being hampered by severe weather conditions.
The expedition, which included climbers from Nepal, Oman, the US, China, and Pakistan, had been out of communication since Thursday. Among the missing is Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi, undertaking what was expected to be his final 8,000-meter climb.
American climber Mallory Geis, 39, known for her adventurous spirit, was on her first attempt at an 8,000-meter peak. The expedition was led by renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja.
Broad Peak, the world's 12th-highest mountain, is located in Pakistan's Karakoram range. Climbing in northern Pakistan carries inherent risks due to avalanches and unpredictable weather.
